Prometheus

Robin hadn't heard another peep about a potential puck in town. As far as he knew the mysterious naked jewelry thief hadn't been caught, and also hadn't made any other hits - at least not any that had eye witnesses or had caught him on camera. Though he might have preferred hearing something; the nugget of threat and then a lack of closure just had him on edge.

He knew he'd probably been a dick because of it, too. When Robin was uncomfortable, and especially if that discomfort had an edge of fear, he overcompensated. He pretended everything was fine, which meant he amped his Robin-ness up to eleven. Figuratively, he'd been swinging from chandeliers.

Which is why he was drunk and stumbling into the flat at 7:45 in the morning. He also couldn't remember where he'd left his shirt.

He tried to be quiet, but ended up crashing into the kitchen table and sending a bowl of apples crashing to the ground and rolling about. He swore.

"I think that sounds lovely," Robin said. "Greece, maybe? Though then we wouldn't have the satisfaction of fucking on every available surface of a stranger's house..."

"A passion I'm not sure we share," the titan replied, raising a brow and looking mildly amused. "You are an odd one, my sweet puck."

"I really don't know how you can put up with me," Robin teased. "But if you insist, you can decide on a reasonable waiting period until we do anything to debauch these strangers' house."

"So very generous of you. After dinner, perhaps?" the titan suggested.

[goodfellow]

"Sure," Robin said. "It'll give you time to decide how you want me. The owners said the kitchen's fully stocked, we could cook."

[pecked_by_birds]

"If you'd like," Prometheus nodded. "What are you in the mood for, pet?"

Prometheus didn't cook often, but he was talented enough in the kitchen to take requests.

“Something with cheese,” Robin said after a moment. “You work that out and I’ll check out the wine.”

Prometheus nodded, thinking for a moment and then beginning to cook. He knew it would take some time, but he set about making gougères, enough to satisfy in place of a real meal. Something they could take outside and pick at while they drank and enjoyed the scenery.

Robin had already been in touch with the owners of the villa, and they told him he could take what he liked from the left side of the wine cellar, as long as he didn't mind a bill. He didn't.

The left side was not as good as the right side, but he was not a dick. He emerged with three bottles and set them on the kitchen counter before going for the wine glasses. "Merlot, shiraz, or pinot?" he asked.

"Pinot, I think," Prometheus replied, slipping their meal into the oven and setting the timer. "I didn't think to see if there was anything nearby to do. Perhaps we can go exploring tomorrow?"

"Mmm yes, lovely," Robin said. "In fact, let's rent a car. I'd really enjoy driving a convertible too fast around these mountain paths." He found a corkscrew and opened the wine, poured them two glasses.

"If that's what you'd like, pet," the titan purred, moving to stand behind the puck and wrapping his arms around him.

[goodfellow]

"You're very agreeable today," Robin murmured and leaned back against him as he took a sip of the wine.

[pecked_by_birds]

"I suppose it's been an agreeable sort of day. I feel well, lately. I feel as though I should enjoy that. No pain, no nightmares... that's something to treasure," the titan confessed.

[goodfellow]

"I'm glad," said Robin, and leaned back to press his lips to Prometheus' cheek. "That's what I want for you, to be well."

Suddenly he heard something, like a crash. Outside, maybe. "Did you hear that?"

"I did. Probably an animal, I'll go chase it off," he offered, kissing the puck in return and letting go.

Stepping outside he didn't see anything at first, but after a moment he spotted footprints- the footprints of someone with a serious limp.

"Are you certain we're alone here, dove?" he called to Robin.

[goodfellow]

"I'm sure," Robin called back, "I spoke to the owners earlier today." Though he walked the direction Prometheus had gone, holding a glass of wine.

The titan nodded at the footprints, then frowned. "Get inside and lock the doors, let's not give whoever it is an invitation to come in."

Robin allowed himself the comforting thought that they were almost certainly being paranoid. After all, what were the odds of the alternative... even taking into account the number of enemies most of them had.

But he went back in anyway, deadbolted the door they came in first, and then checked the front and back doors.

Prometheus checked the windows, pausing at the last one and spotting a figure in the distance. It was a man, but he was far enough away now that he couldn't make out his features. There was something familiar about him though.

"A failed robbery, probably," he said as he rejoined Robin. "They must have been hoping no one was here. We'll have to be careful for the next few days."

"I pity the robber who happens upon us," Robin snorted, and handed Prometheus the bottle of wine. "Do you think there's a crossbow here? I suppose a sword would do, but I really do like crossbows."

"I'm not sure people stock their bars with those anymore, petal," the titan chuckled, pouring himself a glass and smiling as his timer went off.

"Ah, perfect timing. Food should be ready."

[goodfellow]

"Mmmm good, I'm hungry," Robin said happily, refilling his wine glass before moving to get plates. "Thank you for slaving over a hot stove for me, honey."

[pecked_by_birds]

"Oh, i'm sure you can slave over something else later in return, dove," Prometheus said, pulling the gougères out of the oven.

"I thought we'd be a little decadent. Though rather than indulge on the deck, perhaps we should stay inside after all."

"It looked like we scared whoever it was away, didn't it?" Robin said, liking the idea of being out in the night air himself.
