Prometheus

Robin hadn't heard another peep about a potential puck in town. As far as he knew the mysterious naked jewelry thief hadn't been caught, and also hadn't made any other hits - at least not any that had eye witnesses or had caught him on camera. Though he might have preferred hearing something; the nugget of threat and then a lack of closure just had him on edge.

He knew he'd probably been a dick because of it, too. When Robin was uncomfortable, and especially if that discomfort had an edge of fear, he overcompensated. He pretended everything was fine, which meant he amped his Robin-ness up to eleven. Figuratively, he'd been swinging from chandeliers.

Which is why he was drunk and stumbling into the flat at 7:45 in the morning. He also couldn't remember where he'd left his shirt.

He tried to be quiet, but ended up crashing into the kitchen table and sending a bowl of apples crashing to the ground and rolling about. He swore.

Robin knew he was being silly; he wasn't sure why he had such a bad feeling. He poured the rest of the bottle of wine into his glass. It was just his paranoia about the potential of a puck; it was putting him on edge about everything.

Prometheus wasn't gone long, and when he returned he was walking backwards. A man with a thick beard and pronounced limp followed him in, dagger drawn and pressed against the titan's chest.

"It seems we have company after all," the titan said quietly.

Hephaestus frowned at the sight of Robin, pushing the dagger hard enough against Prometheus' chest that the titan actually winced. "Sit, Puck. I'm not here for you today," he huffed.

Robin was so startled he dropped the glass of red wine - onto the light colored carpet. Though that was at the bottom of his priority list right now.

"Fucking hell," he blurted when he saw Hephaestus, and his heart twisted when he saw the dagger. "Look, whatever it is that's got your panties in a twist, I'm sure there's no need for violence."

"I'm not here to fight. I'm here to escort Prometheus back to Olympus," Hephaestus replied- though he didn't lower the knife.

Prometheus glanced down at the blade, noting what it was made of and swallowing hard. "Why?" he asked simply. "I'm not welcome there anymore, Hephaestus."

The limping man did seem to take a small amount of pity on him then, no longer pressing the blade so roughly against his chest. "Zeus requires your counsel."

"Funny how such a polite request comes at the end of a blade," Robin snapped. "Put that thing away and we might have a conversation with you." Though what he was really thinking was, you've lost your fucking mind if you think he's going with you.

"No need for conversation, I'm not going," the titan said. "Stab me if you like, Hephaestus, then be on your way."

Hephaestus frowned, a hint of worry creasing his brow. "You can't decline, Prometheus. This isn't a request."

He turned then, pointing the blade at Robin instead. That was enough to finally make the titan tense.

"Harm him, Hephaestus, and I promise you a punishment far worse than mine," Prometheus warned, a hint of something dangerous flashing behind his eyes.

Robin also tensed at the blade being pointed at him. He had a fine sense of self preservation, and also he knew well enough how much Hephaestus loathed him.

"You should listen to him," Robin said. "He's fucking scary. In fact, I think it's best you just walk away slowly from this whole thing now. I mean, not that you have much of a choice but to walk slowly." Okay, now might be a good time for him to reel in his smart mouth.

"You arrogant, filthy little-"

Hephaestus lunged at Robin, but before he could get too close Prometheus had him by the throat.

"Leave," the titan snarled, using his grip to slam him back hard against the nearest wall. "Leave, and tell Zeus if he wants my council he best come himself and be prepared to grovel. As for you, Hephaestus, should we cross paths again you'll not have time to draw your weapon before your blood paints my walls. Do you understand?"

If he could have, Robin would have pulled out pom poms and started cheering him on. It was fucking great to see Hephaestus put in his place, not to mention that this side of Prometheus was really hot.

Though he also realized that the danger wasn't over. Robin shot into the kitchen and grabbed a large kitchen knife before returning.

"What he said," he said, trying to sound menacing.

Hephaestus took a swipe with the blade, but the titan caught his wrist and squeezed hard.

"When I let you go, I suggest you run," he snarled.

"... as fast as you can," Robin said, unable to stop himself from poking the bear. He was pretty pissed off about this, too. "You ruined our romantic evening, you bitch."

Hephaestus was trembling slightly, and when Prometheus let go he crumpled slightly before finding his feet again.

"What a vile creature you've become, Prometheus. Barely titan, miles from man," he whispered, sparing Robin one last dirty look before taking off.

Robin watched him go, his body still tight with tension. Even when he heard the door close he didn't relax, though he did run over and lock it behind the god. And did not feel safe at all.

Prometheus took a long moment to calm himself, forcing down that darkness inside him, then exhaling softly.

"This does not bode well," he said quietly.

Robin crossed the short distance between them and wrapped his arms around Prometheus, kissing him deeply. "You were amazing," he murmured. "You put that fucker in his place."

The titan tensed and pulled away.

"Don't, please don't, not while I'm like this," he pleaded quietly.

Robin looked slightly wounded.

"What? I... you defended me. You're amazing. I just - " He cut himself off, not knowing what to say. But he really wanted to kiss him more.

"I could feel his windpipe. I didn't want to let go. I wanted to keep squeezing until he ceased to move. I wanted to see the life drain from him, to watch him gasp and struggle," the titan said, fingers curling into fists at his side, then relaxing slowly.

"He would have fucking deserved it," said Robin, and put a hand on Prometheus' shoulder, gently kneading the muscles there.

"He was doing as he was told," Prometheus said softly. "You don't say no to Zeus, Robin."

"Zeus didn't tell him to pull a knife on you," Robin snapped. "You can bet that was improvisation. Fuck I hate that guy. But Prometheus - you were perfect."

"I was violent," the titan countered. "I could have disarmed him without causing harm."

"If you hadn't been violent I would have," Robin said.

"I understand the situation called for it, dove, that is not why I'm upset," the titan said softly. "I would never allow anyone to harm you- I'd unleash all my demons if it meant keeping you safe. ...But that doesn't make it any less frighting to me. We both know where this path can sometimes lead me."

Robin knew that poking at Prometheus' demons was a very bad idea. He also knew that Prometheus really didn't want to hear how much that had turned him on, no matter how true it was. And it was really true.

"I know," he said, and moved a little closer, a hand on Prometheus' chest. "Though I don't know why that makes you not want me to touch you."
