Robin rang the new year in in style - surrounded by hundreds of people who thought he (or at least his club) was awesome. He kissed probably a dozen people, drank an entire bottle of champagne, and only stopped dancing when people began to leave.

Though the club would be open until 3am, Robin stole away about 1:30 and went back to the bedroom where he'd left Fin. He'd brought another bottle of champagne, but when he saw that Fin was asleep, he just set it on the dresser. He looked at him for a moment, and then he pulled off the toga and climbed into the bed beside him wearing only the gold thong, curling up next to him with his face to the back of Fin's neck.

Robin chuckled. "Me too..." He slid a hand underneath Fin's shirt. "Do you want to go back to sleep?" God he hoped the answer was no.

"No," Fin said softly, turning to look at Robin, then looking sad.

"I should be home with Will- But I'm not. ...I'm a shit boyfriend. I'm a shit guest too. I got so drunk."

Earlier, Robin had thought of asking about that first bit. But then, he tried to avoid bringing up Will as a general rule.

"Trust me, there were drunker," Robin said. "I didn't see you do anything stupid. How are you feeling now?"

"Like a dickhead, mostly," Fin said quietly, nuzzling at Robin's shoulder.

"He wants to break our bond," he said quietly. "I told him not to try, told him I was afraid I'd die if he did, that we'd both perish... Truth is, if we break that bond, he's got no more reason to stay with me than I do him. He'll leave, and I'll have to face forever alone. ...I don't want to be alone, Rob. I don't want to lose him. He's the only being in this world who knows me inside out. The only being who loves me, even when I'm a tit."

And he loved Will in a way he couldn't even communicate.

This was not how Robin had seen the evening going, once he returned. Even if he were not him, if he did not balk from love like he did, hearing someone talk about how much they love someone else when in bed with you was not pleasant.

And it wasn't as if he had anything to say to this. After all, he'd been alone for thousands of years. But he doubted that was a sentiment that Fin would find comforting.

"I'll get you some water," he said, and climbed out of the bed, walking over to the dresser.

Fin let out a soft whine when Rob left his side, a sound that wasn't terribly human. Moments like this, it was obvious just how young a fae he was. A child, really, compared to others. When faced with ideas like forever, Fin simply crumbled, his brain struggling to understand just what forever meant to someone like him.

He fought the temptation to slip into his fox form and simply hide, but he did pull the covers over his head.

"I don't want water. More wine," he huffed.

Robin glanced at the bottle of champagne on the dresser.

He sighed. "If I give you more to drink you'll just get more maudlin and then pass out anyway. Wouldn't you rather just go back to sleep?"

"No," was Fin's slightly muffled reply from under the covers. "I want to drink more. We should drink."

A hand poked out from under the covers, and it was obvious Fin was trying to use his magic to bring the bottle to him- and failing. All he managed to attract was a sock he'd lost somewhere between the door and the bed.

"Fine," said Robin, who was unimpressed by the petulance. But if Fin wanted to cry himself to sleep, fine. Robin would go sleep in his office.

He picked up the bottle and popped the cork, then poured a glass.

He walked back over to the bed - kept the glass himself, and just handed Fin the bottle.

Fin took the bottle, and that vanished under the covers as well. The lump that was the sulking fae moved a little as he drank, and eventually the covers fell back, revealing him, half dressed and looking pouty.

"You're cross with me," he said. "I'm not being fun. ...I can be. I can be fun. People like that Fin, don't they?" he asked quietly. "Drunk Fin. Touchy Fin..."

Robin looked at him sharply. "Oh no," he said. "No. Do not lump me in with the people who use you."

Fin shrank away at the scolding, taking another big drink.

"You are cross though," he sulked. "Don't be cross," he said, his magic reaching out a little, trying to be soothing, but still drunk enough that it just pawed at the puck.

Robin sucked in a breath.

"I'm not cross because you're not fucking me," Robin said. "I'm cross because you want to talk about Will while I'm practically naked and wrapped around you. Also - your magic keeps trying to give me an erection."

"It likes you," Fin pouted, putting the bottle aside and getting up. "I like you," he added quietly.

"Don't be cross," he whispered, moving closer and touching Rob lightly. He was a touch unsteady on his feet, clearly still feeling the first round of drinks as the second lot started to find their way into his bloodstream. "I'm sorry. I'll be better. I can be better, my head's just- It's not in a good place. I can get there though. I can..."

Robin reached behind him to Fin and squeezed his hand. "You don't need to get there, Fin. Not for me."

Fin kissed his shoulder, closing his eyes and sighing.

"You're so kind to me, Rob," he said quietly.

"I guess that doesn't track with my reputation," Robin said.

After a moment he added, "And speaking of my reputation, as much as I love fucking, I only do it because someone wants to. Not because they're drunk, or they feel obligated."

"I'm not drunk," Fin huffed, pausing, then frowning. "Okay, maybe drunk," he admitted, nuzzling at him again.

"I don't feel obligated though," he promised. "Lay back down with me," he said softly.

Robin closed his eyes.

"You would rather be with Will," he said.

"Do I?" Fin asked, and it was a genuine question, because he didn't know.

"I can't answer that for you, but it seemed like it," Robin said, and turned around to face him. "But if you really do want me to come to bed with you, I will."

Fin was quiet for a moment, then sighed.

"No, I- I'm going," he said quietly. "You deserve to spend the new year with someone who is only thinking of you," he said quietly.
